To Develop, Maintain, Distribute, and Promote
the GIS for the overall benefit of the citizens of Peoria
County.

History
1996 -Peoria County contracts with vendor for cost benefit study
1997 -Peoria GIS hires Surdex for Aerial Photography in Peoria County.
1998 -Peoria GIS hires Merrick to develop digital orthophotography, Topographic and Planimetric data
2000 -Peoria takes last delivery of data, Policy and Technical Committees are formed, bylaws are adopted
2002 - Peoria GIS hires Tri-County Regional Planning Commission as staff
2003 -Peoria GIS hires Sidwell to create a digital cadastral data layer and Surdex to produce color digital orthophotography in Peoria County. Color Orthophotography delivered. Public and member internet mapping sites developed.
2005 - Cadastral project finished. County-wide GIS property data available
2007 – PGIS selects Sanborn to provide updated color orthos, topographic, and planimetric data
2008 – PGIS becomes member of Regional Map Server project to provide internet mapping for multiple governmental partners. Sanborn flies county in March.
2009 – PGIS takes first delivery of updated color orthophotography. PGIS internet mapping site revised and updated.
